There has been a strong French flavour to our country since the weekend. It seems everyone wants to show some support of the French after the attacks in Paris at the weekend. Even our football team and the audience were singing the French national anthem at the football match. I thought it was rather nice, although I think it would also be nice if we made some reference to those poor Russian people killed by a bomb on the aircraft leaving Egypt.
While on a French flavour, I wanted to mention a couple of French movies to you, which I highly recommend. The first is a love story by the French director Luc Besson. It is named 'Angel-A'. It is a story of a man who is down on his luck and ready to end his own life, and he is taken up by a real angel from heaven. It is certainly a cliche which has been covered many times in movies. It is filmed in a very pleasant way and has a wonderful sense of the pleasure of falling in love with someone and also even of growing to love yourself a little. Perhaps there is a small message in it that we must love ourselves a little if we want to get along in life. The second movie is named '36 Quai des Orfevre' or perhaps just '36'. The title is from an address in Paris which relates to the security services. It is a story of betrayal and rivalry in the senior ranks of the police forces and also of the attempt to find some armed robbers. The French have a strong understanding of tragedy and the fact that often in life there is only unrelenting difficulty and trauma in our lives. I like their understanding of such issues and that their film makers do not shy away from this.
Today was the next step in my life. I gave notice to my employer that I am leaving them, and now everyone in the place knows I am ready to depart. I will finish there by December 17 and I hope that the new company will not want me to start right away, so that I may have some time at home over Christmas, so I may relax a little and also start some chores of preparing my house a little for when I want to sell ity and move East a little further for the new job. It is a drag to spend a long time cramped in economy class, but the actual idea of travelling so far in just a few hours is fantastic. I hope you and I will be soon sharing a flight from Boryspil to somewhere in this country when you first visit here. One of my great heroes in life is a fellow who I discovered while watching a show about an air disaster. If you look up the story of Lenny Skutnik, you will see about that man, and what he did. He is not a famous man, but his quiet modest heroism is something that inspires me very much.
I understand now about the mistake in the movie title dear. Many devices are famous for these corrections, and some humorous TV shows broadcast many of the best examples. I heard one recently where someone tried to send an SMS message to say 'Grandmother is out of hospital' and it was corrected to say 'Grandmother is a homosexual'.
Yes I do have a fireplace, dear, although the fire there is a rather small one powered by gas. I think a large fireplace goes well with a very large home. Perhaps my next home will be a little larger but a grand fireplace may still not be the thing to fit well in many houses. We have more money over here but we do not all live in grand palaces. They would cost too much to heat in the winter anyway.
If you like those images of cosy family life, you may like to look at the artistic work of Normal Rockwell. He did many works which were a fantasy of the 'all American' lifestyle and many of them feature these fantasy scenes which help to motivate people toward a better lifestyle. It is true that thee are many more opportunities in the Americas. There are more opportunities to succeed there, but also more opportunities to fail.
My decorations for Christmas are normally just a tree and many many lights. I enjoy bright lights with variable patterns of fading and flashing and different colours. It is not unknown for me to have almost 1000 lights on just my tree which is about 1.40m in height. I use an artificial tree because I like to keep it each year. I would be very sad to use a live tree each year and discard it after Christmas. It makes me sad to see these trees each year when they are discarded and lying in the street awaiting collection.
Yes I agree there are many simple pleasures like a drink of tea or coffee that we many share any number of times. I suppose I am not a greater fan of any drink, but it depends on my mood. Also in the evening I am a big fan of a large cup of hot milk sometimes. Delicious!
Certainly I want everything to be special for you. You are the apple of my eye and I want this sense between us to grow over the years. I want to give you everything possible in return for the gift of having you near me and making every moment special. All of my holiday travels alone have been wonderful, but always I have had the idea that a return trip to each location, with a fine young lady to share the experience, would be even more wonderful. Even as I drive to my holidays in Scotland, I often have the fantasy that I may look across to the passenger seat of the car and see a beloved young lady sleeping there, and I dream of her reaction when we reach the place and she sees the view there for the first time. Certainly it is you who now fits into all of my dreams in this way. I am really excited to imagine your reaction to every pleasant adventure that we might share together.
Yes it sounds nice in the Carpathian mountains. I have seen some images of the area. I think it will be a big bonus for Ukraine's tourism in the future. There are many countries like Slovenia which have had a big boost to the economy by making new tourist venues in their mountain areas. I can barely ski at all, but I think a trip there would be pleasant, but we would need to find ways to keep ourselves amused during the long hours of night time!
If you like the Carpathians, I am sure you would also like Switzerland very much. It is an amazing place. Perhaps you may like to check out some photos of Wengen and Lauterbrunnen and Interlaken. These are all very pleasant areas which I hope we may share before too long as our plans proceed. Last summer I stayed at a location on the mountain named Niederhorn. There is a 'berghaus' (mountain house) at the top and during my one night there last year, I was the only guest! It is incredible to spend a night right at the top of a mountain, especially when I was the king of the hill that night. I felt like the evil genius from a James Bond movie, up there with my commanding view over the local area and no one but the staff around.
I looked up that movie, dear. It features an actor who has been in those Fantastic Four movies and also a girl who was in one of the Star Trek movies recently. It reminded me of another movie to recommend to you, from around a decade ago, named 'A Lot Like Love'. I really like this one, because not everything works out perfectly for the two main characters but, for me, the important thing is that they are together at last, at the end of the movie, after many years of being kept apart for various reasons, even though they really care for each other. It is a very pleasant movie ending which always makes me rather emotional too. I think when you and I watch such movies we will need a big box of tissues and must be ready to comfort one
