My city is Called Göteborg in Swedish, Gothenburg in English, Gotemburgo in Spanish. It lays by the sea with archipelago. There is a River passing through, called Göta Älv (Gothia River). It was founded in 1621 by the King. Build as Amsterdam with waterways by Dutch. In 1800s the city was planned as London and Paris. In 1900s the city grow 10 times both in population and size. Liseberg, is the largest amusement park in Scandinavia which first opened on the 300 years anniversary of the City. About 30% of the city area are parks. There is a Botanical Garden, famous for its orchids. Other famous Garden and parks are "Trädgårdsföreningen", "Slottsskogen" with its zoo of domestic animals and Penguins. There is the Opera, Göteborgssymfonikerna (Gothenburg symphony orchestra), theaters, cinemas and museums like "Röhska" (Design museum), Nature history, World culture, "Maritiman" is a museum of submarine and warships, "Aeroseum" a flight museum used be a top secret air force bunker carved into the rock, Maritime Museum and Aquarium, "Universeum" Largest Science Centre in Scandinavia with Rainforest, Aquariums and Terrariums. Paddan, open air tourists boats. The city is famous for its fish markets Feskekörka (Fish church), Fiskhamnen (Where all fishers leave their catch) etc. Some "old style indoor" fresh food markets are Saluhallen, Briggen Saluhall and Kville Saluhall. There are some world famous chefs and restaurants too. You can find restaurants serving food from many cultures. Then we got the super big events. Way-out-west a music festival with nearly 50000 visitors, Metaltown metal/rock festival with 20000 visitors, Göteborgsvarvet (60000 running, 21 km), Summburst 120000 dancing to DJs, Håkan Hellström singing for 140000, Bruce Springsteen sing for 220000, Partille Cup 10000 handball players invading the city for a week, Gothia Cup 50000 young footballs players from all over the world invading the city living in schools. We got Westpride 10000s people doing gay things for a week. Then we got Kulturkalaset for a week when the whole city is full of people, a festival for the citizen by the citizen and a lot of artists, and other culture things you can think of. You got shopping malls too. Other big events hosted are America's Cup, volvo ocean race, Gothenburg horse show, the book fair, world championships in handball 2017. The city is known for companies as Volvo, SKF, Stena (Line), AstraZeneca, Nobel biocare and Nudie Jeans. It is the retail center of Sweden. The harbour is the biggest in Scandinavia. There is a Airport with about 6 million passengers a year. The politicians have set a goal to double the population from today's 500000 in the city to one million. So they got big plans for building high rise buildings and residential areas. In industrial estates close to the city centre. In 2019 a 266 meter high building will be the new landmark of the city. Let see what happens 2021 for the 400 birthday of Gothenburg.
I am pretty happy where I live now. It is close to everything I need today. The city got the vibe of a small town but have got the big towns offer.
